| Arthurlie F.C. Match Report - 18 October 2004 at 14:11 |
ARTHURLIE NEWS RESULTS Pollok 0 ARTHURLIE 0 League – Saturday 9th October. ARTHURLIE 3 Auchinleck Talbot 1 League – Saturday 16th October. Scorers - McKeown, Hobbs, Wilson. THANKFULLY I do not have any defeats to report on this week, although there is a bit of a hard luck story from last week against Pollok at Newlandsfield. We had enough chances to win two matches and could have been two goals up in the first two minutes. There followed a thoroughly entertaining game, with both sides having their chances and the woodwork saving each side within five minutes of each other. It was a pity the Scotland international was live on TV at the same time, as such an excellent match deserved a much larger attendance, although there were more there then originally anticipated. So, on to Saturday and a home match against Ayrshire giants Auchinleck Talbot. They actually scored first near the end of a first half that had been a game of tactical manoeuvres, ‘Lie replied in the best possible way, though, as Brian McKeown scored with an unstoppable shot from 25 yards. The game was over five minutes into the second period as first Downs, and then Wilson scored with long range efforts. So despite maybe not playing as well as they had in the previous two matches, Arthurlie came away with the three points, and as someone once said: "It’s a funny old game, football." The new paygates were in operation on Saturday, at last. All that’s needed to be done now are parts of the terracing renewed. Colin Robertson has now completed his suspension and is available for selection on Saturday. The only major injury worry is still Scott McNab, who is still around three weeks away from being able to take part in full training. Saturday sees the visit of Glasgow Perthshire, in the second round of the West of Scotland Cup. They knocked Larkhall Thistle out of the last round, so it won’t be easy. The following week we are away to Troon on league business. Supporters are advised to double check kick off times as we are coming to the early kick offs, as the nights draw in. Come on the ‘Lie, FRANK. |
