Neilston Train Through the ages.
Neilston had two stations at one point. Neilston
Low on the Barrhead line and Neilston High Station that is the one
that is still standing.
Neilston station was opened in 1903; it was only
one of the stations on the Neilston line. When the rest of the line
wasn't getting used Neilston was the last stop on the line.
The whole of Neilston station was re-furbished
and was re-opened on the 7th of February 1989 by Councillor James
Murry of Paisley.
The station had a new footbridge, building, platforms
and car park added to it. The line was carrying a lot of Eastwood
High School pupils to Patterton station. a six-minute journey from
Neilston.
Class 303
At one point there was only one class of train
running on the line, the reliable and unforgotten class 303 trains.

Both were seen as great technical advances but
still the 303's were greatly missed. The one major change in the
station was that the overhead canopy was demolished and nothing
left in its place. A small shelter has now replaced it.
During 1999 and 2003 there have been class 334
trains introduced to work alongside its class 314 counterparts.
These were the most advanced trains to run on the line.
