Railway Station

My local train station is Neilston. For many Eastwood pupils Neilston is their daily starting point for school. For me, that train station represents that the school week has ended and my friends and I are heading into Glasgow.

Neilston bursts into life at six in the morning when the lights turn on and the train comes screeching along the cold rails. Every half an hour from six till eleven the train arrives like clockwork. Often I get confused when a heavy vehicle passes the train station which makes me think it's the train arriving.

In the winter on a cold and chilly morning the platform is heavily salted and the small glass shelter is iced up inside and out. The passengers stand rigid and motionless waiting for the train to arrive.

Some say they feel unsafe around Neilston station which seems silly 1 ly and childish. The evidence to prove safety is shown by the many CCTV cameras pointing in every direction and standing tall.

The fields around Neilston station aren't pleasant smelling, like most manure filled fields The smell doesn't seem to discourage teenagers flocking into Glasgow via the train, as at the weekend the platform seems to be dominated by weekend commuters. More so at the weekend, the annoying aspects of the train service is the timing (you never know whether to come at the correct time and wait, or deliberately arrive late to save waiting). Neilston station is the centre of Neilston and is the main focus of the town.
