Barrhead South & Levern Church has a roll of 504. The Kirk Session has 41 elders and the Deacons’ Court has 19 deacons.
The work of the Kirk Session is facilitated by several special interest groups made up of elders and others, reporting at intervals to the Session. These groups comprise:
Worship; Pastoral Care; Mission;
World Mission; Communication.
There are three House Groups meeting regularly, with a total of 32 members.
The Guild welcomes all women and meets on Monday evenings at 7.30 in the Hall during the months of October to April.
The church buildings have access and toilet facilities for wheelchair users.
A Brief History
Barrhead South Church began with the Disruption of 1843, when the congregation, under the ministry of Alexander Salmon, left the Church of Scotland to become part of the Free Church. The church building opened in 1846. The congregation, as part of the by then United Free Church of Scotland, rejoined the Church of Scotland in 1929 as Barrhead South Parish Church. |
