Glasgow corporation transport took over the tram services from paisley
and district tramways in 1923, and up until about 1938 there was a tram
depot where aurs road joined main street at what is now manse court. This
also included a sub station to supply power to the overhead wires.

Smiths (also trading as Majestic), had a depot on Aurs road at what is
now Aurs place. Most work was private hire and tour work but two public
services were operated these being nitshill to paisley and nitshill to
govan.
It was part of SCWS group for a time and sold out to western SMT in 1968.
Other bus services in the Barrhead Area were provided by the McGill family,
who had operated buses at Crosshill near Ayr in the mid 1920's as Carrick
Pullman, before moving to barrhead in 1933 after buying out O'Hara's Barrhead
to Paisley service.
Majestic Garage
The successor to Mcgills bus service is the current bus service provider
Arriva Scotland West.
Private hire work is carried out by Southern coaches(nm)LTD Lochlibo
Road, most vehicles operated have cherished number plates e.g P70 SOU

Ailsa trucks was established in barrhead to import Volvo trucks and parts
and provide after sales servicing, by Jim McKelvie who had previously
run a haulage business locally.
This factory is now known by Volvo name, adjacent to it is Plaxton coachbuilders
now part of Transbus group who do bodywork for coaches.
