By ken darroch

Glasgow corporation transport took over the tram services from paisley and district tramways in 1923, and up until about 1938 there was a tram depot where aurs road joined main street at what is now manse court. This also included a sub station to supply power to the overhead wires.

Smiths (also trading as Majestic), had a depot on Aurs road at what is now Aurs place. Most work was private hire and tour work but two public services were operated these being nitshill to paisley and nitshill to govan.
It was part of SCWS group for a time and sold out to western SMT in 1968.

Other bus services in the Barrhead Area were provided by the McGill family, who had operated buses at Crosshill near Ayr in the mid 1920's as Carrick Pullman, before moving to barrhead in 1933 after buying out O'Hara's Barrhead to Paisley service.

The successor to Mcgills bus service is the current bus service provider Arriva Scotland West.
