The online 1851 transcription has been made possible due to the hard work carried out by a local historian, Peter Johnstone. Unfortunately, on Thursday 30th September, 2004, Peter was tragicaly involved in a fatal car crash on Aurs Road, Barrhead.

Peter was originally from Knightswood, Glasgow and was a keen amateur historian and photographer. He was also a committee member of the Barrhead and Neilston Historical society and organised exhibitions such as the 'Barrhead 140', a show of photographic images spanning 140 years of Barrhead's history.

Peter compiled this data by himself, visiting the Mitchell Library and the Barrhead Library over a 6 year period.
