My younger sister had the most tuneless voice you heard in your life, but according to my mother she was Shirley Temple. She was a very good looking kid, but she had dead straight hair and in those days, you weren't good looking. Ye had to have curly hair to be really good looking which was funny, I had the curls and my mother used tae say the wrang ones got the curls, if our Jean had curls she could go into the Shirley Temple competitions. So Jean was always wanting tae sing, so we got her on tae saying poetry.
